Original flute by Stanesby

We were lucky to find this flute as a wreck. I think that it was thought to be a fake, but the bore suggests that it is not. The key is not original but was made by John Hale in the late 18th Century.

It has a lovely tone and Wendy has used it in in some concerts.

Doing any work on an old instrument can be controversial. If you are lucky enough to own one I would urge you not to do anything to it without some expert advice. I am happy to give advice if you contact me. It is often a better idea to make a replica of a joint than to damage the original by trying to "fix" it.
